Entity: XF-009 — Shadow Figure

Silent Sentinel: The Shadow Figure Emerges in a Home Basement

In a dimly lit basement storage room, a mysterious humanoid silhouette quietly glides beyond shelving, captured in a brief yet unsettling twelve-second video from a doorbell camera.

How the encounter began

Designated as a paranormal classification, the Shadow Figure is described as a stable, featureless black silhouette measuring as a narrow humanoid with long arms and a consistent head-to-torso ratio. Its surface is a uniform light-absorbing matte black, devoid of any facial features, and it displays a distinctive small notch along the contour of its left shoulder. Typically inhabiting shadowed spaces such as dim corridors, warehouse aisles, basements, and stairwells, the entity moves in a slow, gliding manner that respects physical occlusion and perspective, enhancing its spectral presence. This particular encounter was recorded by a homeowner who was documenting a leak at the time in the basement, a routine activity firmly within the region known to host such entities.

The recording

The video is a single, continuous 12-second clip captured directly through a doorbell camera, maintaining a fixed camera position throughout. It opens with an empty basement storage space, consistent with a standard basement environment. After several seconds, the Shadow Figure becomes visible as it moves silently and steadily beyond a shelving unit. The humanoid form exhibits no facial features and presents a solid black silhouette with its characteristic notch along the left shoulder. Its gliding movement is smooth and natural, maintaining believable physical relationships with the environment. As the footage concludes, the figure retreats behind a concrete pillar, disappearing from view as quietly as it appeared. The recording shows no dramatic editing, secondary camera angles, or cinematic enhancements—conveying a credible incidental sighting within an ordinary domestic setting.

Connection to the case file

Known simply as the Shadow Figure, this entity consistently inhabits dark, enclosed spaces where minimal light offers partial concealment. Its stable form does not fluctuate in shape or size; instead, it presents as a slender humanoid devoid of any identifiable facial features. The figure's unique matte black surface and subtle shoulder notch serve as its primary identity markers, setting it apart from common shadows or lighting artifacts. Its movement is deliberate and slow, suggesting intent and awareness of its environment. The documented encounter aligns with prior accounts that position this entity within similar habitats, reinforcing the pattern of its presence in dimly lit or subterranean human interiors.

What remains unexplained

What is the nature of the Shadow Figure’s existence—spectral, interdimensional, or something else entirely? Does its movement imply curiosity, surveillance, or another purpose within human spaces? How widespread is its presence beyond basements and comparable shadowed environments? Finally, could further study of the unique notch along its shoulder provide a means of distinguishing individual entities or instances of this phenomenon?
